Is it okay or not okay to retweet your own tweet (with a second account) to get it on to the Favstar home page? Please explain as well as a yes/no. Your thoughts?
designersays answered:
Absolutely not okay. The new rules simply mean it’s an opportunity to try and improve your tweets. Also, BOOBS! What do I win???

Not OK. Then again, it’s just stars…

Not OK.
My question would be is this making the difference for people between apearing on the homepage or not? Seems that anyone giving themselves that many retweets would have to be automating it.

Well, what do you want the homepage to show? The most worthwhile tweets, or tweets by people who have the most fake accounts? (Though I have no idea how you’d go about enforcing anything.)
paxochka answered:
No if someone uses a 2nd account to RT me I can’t control that. But I would never RT myself with my own secondary acc. No matter how tempting
meklarian said:
Not ok. However, I do know of a few people who have multiple accounts that sometimes retweet to share tweets between each other; and these people never visit favstar. Haven’t seen any of their accounts make the leaderboard, though.
steenyweeny answered:
people have time to maintain more than one twitter account and do these things?
blanddiva11 answered:
Totally lame. Tweets should get there based on their entertainment value to others.
swamibooba answered:
Jeez. I can’t believe people care that much about getting onto the homepage.
randomhimay said:
Unacceptable. Hard to control, though.
ashponders answered:
No. I have 53 secondary accounts.
rachelskirts answered:
Not okay. Let the rest of Twitter decide whether or not you’re worthy of a retweet.
jleeincognito answered:
Not okay… defeats the purpose? no?
kellydeal answered:
Lame (though I have accidentally RTed something of mine accidentally from the favstar fumbling on my phone & it makes me feel like a tool
capsaholic said:
Atually, I’m not nasty enough to make it there, so it’s moot. ;)
monkeyfrog answered:
It’s assholish. Plain and simple.
superaddmom answered:
If I RT myself it is cause I’m sharing my tweet again. As an ADHD advocate I tweet diff than the “joke tellers seeking fame” @superADDmom
eagereyes answered:
No, but how would you be able to tell?
capsaholic answered:
I think you should be able RT your self ONCE. Now those people who star & RT themselves from multiple accounts several times, no.
lafix answered:
Lame, but people do far worse to get on the home page.
davio1962 answered:
Not OK. Let the reading public decide what’s worthy. Amazing what people have done just to get noticed. Blecch.
indefensible answered:
Seems pretty lame. But whatevs.
